about the artist

My love for drawing and creating art began before I was old enough to go to school. Over the years, both as a student and a professional artist, my work has taken many twists and turns. After graduating from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education with emphasis in Painting and Drawing, I moved to Fort Worth, Texas. There, I worked for the City of Fort Worth teaching art, dance, music and craft classes, including slip-cast ceramics, which led me to start my own venture creating one-of-a-kind commissioned paintings on slip-cast and hand-built ceramic vases, jewelry and wall pieces.

After twelve years doing the ceramic work, I began to desire a change and more growth as an artist. Seeking a more profound understanding of art, I embarked on acquiring my Master’s of Fine Arts (MFA) in Painting and Drawing at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. During my tenure there, photography and video were added to my processes as well as various sculpture mediums. For years, I used photography strictly as source and reference material for paintings and drawings. Later, my photography developed into its own finished art form as well as the source material for large figurative charcoal portraits.
